Verde da vivere

The Parco di Interesse Locale is based on the concept of #VerdeDaVivere (Nature to be Explored) and comes from the awareness of the existence of a SIC (Site of Community Interest) of about 2 million square meters.

The idea was to overlap the Parco di Interesse with the Site, giving individual owners and companies the opportunity to benefit from funding provided by the Region for interventions related to the improvement of rural areas, and to participate in the call for tenders that the European Community offers in support of Sites of Community Interest and Parks of Local Interest.

The project strategy identifies 6 areas to be infrastructured both from an environmental and functional point of view through the creation of bike and pedestrian paths that allow easy access and permeability to these areas.

For this purpose, a system of six new parks have been proposed for Costermano sul Garda where information, nature and culture find the right balance, blending together in harmony:

• 20 km of new bike/pedestrian routes that become part of a network of more than 100 km of municipal routes equipped for bike trekking
• 25 ha of spaces equipped for sporting, recreational and leisure activities

The bike-pedestrian route connecting Albarè-Costermano-Castion-Marciaga is being developed with a view to creating an alternative mobility network that will play a new role in the tourist offer of the Garda-Baldo area.

It consists of a 13 km route, 80% of which will run through areas purchased by the Municipality, while only 1.5 km will run through existing roads or unpaved back roads.

This will be flanked by 6 thematic parks, where the new bike paths will be integrated into the more than 100 km of existing tracks and unpaved roads, accessible on foot or by mountain bike.

The intervention dedicated to “soft” mobility and a different tourist offer will be supported by the recovery of the paths within the municipalities of Bardolino, Garda, Cavaion, Rivoli and Affi.

By receiving funding from the GAL Baldo/Garda and the European Community, it will be possible to recover, track, mark, indicate and promote a network of paths extending for a total length of 143 km.

To reconnect the territories, and to invest in relaunching the identity of the country in a healthy and eco-friendly manner:

• Reducing pollution
• Reducing climate change over the next 20 years
• Promoting mobility on foot and by bike
• Stimulating active mobility

The project of the 6 thematic parks stems from the possibilities offered by the territory: different sites that can be transformed into attraction sites for visitors who want to discover the territory.

Located in Marciaga, it is the recreational and sporting centre of the municipality. It embraces the “bicigrill” and then expands around a winding route that connects the playing areas.

It stretches from the border with Garda up to Pizzon, with a route of 7 km that crosses the Tesina stream and Strova Valley, suitable for everyone.

This project is planned in the area of the Cimitero Militare Germanico, and includes several elements including a hostel, destined to become the reference point for bike tourists and travellers.

This will be the gateway to the entire system of parks. Located in Albarè, it will act as an info point for visitors, illustrating all the special characteristics and features of Costermano.

The project will include a 250 metre long suspended pedestrian bridge that will cross the Valle dei Mulini. The bridge is designed to become the heart of a 2.5 km long pedestrian circuit.

A modern experiential garden will be created in Castion, where each area has been designed to stimulate the five senses and to discover the different peculiarities of nature.
